Educational demonstration of a standard multinomial logit model—not a thesis result, empirical finding, or model of every decision process.

See the model and its assumptions

P(i | C) = exp(λ × vᵢ) / Σⱼ∈C exp(λ × vⱼ)

C is the checked choice set, v is an illustrative utility score, and λ controls sensitivity to utility differences. At zero sensitivity, available options have equal probability. One option has probability 100%; no options means the probabilities are undefined.

For positive λ, the standard random-utility interpretation assumes independent, identically distributed Gumbel errors and has the independence-of-irrelevant-alternatives property. Checkboxes specify a choice set; they do not estimate how consideration sets form.
